Music Biography

Lil Nas X–Real name Montero Lamar Hill, is an American rapper, singer and songwriter. The Lithia Springs, Georgia native solidified his place in music history elater in his career. He released his first mixtape on July 24, 2018 (Self-released), titled Nasarati. He also released a music video for the first track, which was called “Carry On.”

In December of 2018, he released “Old Town Road.” The song was promoted by memes, which led to it going viral on TikTok. It was also accompanied by the “#Yeehaw challenge,” which fueled the song to chart on Billboard. This led to Montero getting signed by Columbia Records in March of 2019. The song became especially controversial at this time, as it was removed from the “Hot Country Songs” charts after it received backlash from country music purists.

Country artist Billy Ray Cyrus was added to a remix version of “Old Town Road” (In April of 2019). Which spend 19 weeks at number 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart. The longest #1 run in the chart’s history. The song served as the first track on his debut EP–titled 7–which was released on June 21, 2019. Additional hits from the EP included “Panini” and “Rodeo.”
